[0:00] there has been a lot of talks about republicans dodging debates these days we now have another [0:05] one to add to the list uh joe lombardo is the current republican governor of nevada [0:10] he's running against aaron ford who's the current attorney general of california i'm glad to be [0:14] joined now by attorney general ford attorney general ford can you give your response to [0:19] the fact that we have yet another in a long list of republicans who are dodging debates why won't [0:25] uh why won't your opponent get on the debate stage with you here well good to see you uh my friend [0:31] and uh it's a great question and the answer is simple he's scared uh he's scared to get on the [0:35] stage to be able to um have to defend his record right now that has created this nombardo trump [0:41] economy that no one can afford and that everyone's struggling in uh he's afraid to have to defend [0:46] against his lies that he's articulated throughout the entirety of the campaign and he also doesn't [0:50] want us to be able to get our message out about how affordable uh how our affordable nevada plan is [0:56] going to help to get us out of this mess in the first place uh he's running uh he's cowering uh as [1:01] he has done the entire cycle um and so it's no surprise but it is still disappointing is there any [1:07] hope in your opinion uh for him to actually show up on the debate stage absolutely not i mean at the [1:13] end of the day um i've already accepted three three debates including one just recently as last week [1:19] we had an open mic debate uh last week as well where the league of women voters um put this on [1:26] the non-partisan league women voters put this on with kunr and i think a few other sponsors not only [1:32] did he decline to uh participate he actually had his allies try to scuttle the entire thing [1:38] by intimidating league of women voters having them remove their names as a host because it was only [1:44] going to be an even empty podium debate he tried to get us kicked out of the location that we're [1:49] going to have the debate nonetheless we were able to persevere we had a great discussion with kunr [1:55] and the people should refer to that because again it demonstrates what our platform is and it shows [2:01] the distinction that makes a great difference between joe lombardo who folds and runs and hides [2:05] and an aaron ford who stands before you willing to stand up and fight now one of the aspects that i [2:12] presume joe lombardo doesn't want to answer for is the high prices that are plaguing americans right now [2:18] specifically high gas prices nevada has some of the highest gas prices in the country those high [2:24] prices are owed in large part to the fact that we are engaged in a war in iran that trump and republicans [2:30] swore up and down would never happen and yet here we are but to add insult to injury um can you talk a [2:37] little bit about what lombardo's stance on that very war that again is responsible for these high prices and [2:43] high gas prices what that stance is but you know i have used um a description of joe lombardo this [2:50] entire campaign that is entirely apropos for this part of the conversation as well he cowers [2:55] kowtiles capitulates and kisses up to donald trump at every turn and the iran war is no different [3:01] in fact recently joe lombardo signed onto a letter asking for 70 billion additional dollars to help fight [3:08] this fight even though everyone knows that their gas prices ran up soon after uh donald trump waged [3:14] this unlawful war we are over five dollars a gallon in our state diesel is almost at seven dollars a [3:20] gallon uh and so at the end of the day what we see again is a a president who has an acolyte on the [3:26] ground here in joe lombardo um and a uh and and the governor of our state not standing up for nevadans [3:32] contributing to the demise of our economy the difficulties that our people are having uh they [3:38] they are unable to to afford gas and groceries some folks are making decisions between groceries and [3:43] prescriptions uh and housing is is out of reach um this is a miserable place for us to be in right now [3:48] but we have an opportunity election cycle to turn the corner okay so you have all of these high [3:53] prices that americans are contending with that was a theme in the 2024 election and republicans swore [4:00] up and down from joe lombardo all the way up to donald trump that if you just elect republicans [4:05] they'll get it all sorted out and they did and republicans are in control on every branch of [4:09] government uh and on the federal level they've got the house the senate the white house uh on [4:14] the state level you've got as as we've been talking about a republican in charge of that state [4:19] and so where's the disconnect here if republicans swore that if they were elected they'd be able to bring [4:25] prices down they talked about housing and rent and groceries and eggs uh where is the disconnect [4:31] between now full control of government and yet all of the problems that they swore to fix have been [4:35] exacerbated look they were lying from the beginning at the end of the day right i mean [4:40] and people are disenchanted they understand that they've been lied to that's the reason why uh this [4:45] this race has been neck and neck not with that in the fact that joel lombardo has spent 20 million [4:49] dollars since february lying about me and lying about his own record uh at the end and and so um [4:56] that that's where the disconnect is they never were um going to lower the cost of eggs uh they never were [5:02] going to really look out for the everyday working class member and we know this right because joel [5:07] lombardo on his own volition when trump was here about a month ago said without even being asked a [5:11] question that he agreed that we should be taken care of and i quote trump's billionaire friends right he says [5:16] because they're the ones curating the jobs last i checked is these small businesses creating jobs [5:21] and they're getting decimated by the tariffs that joel lombardo supported by saying we need to feel [5:25] a little pain from we don't need pain we need the leadership i demonstrated it by suing trying to [5:30] get us refunds and now your governor our governor even says we don't deserve the refunds yeah that's [5:34] disdain for uh our community um and he needs to be sent packing okay to that end then what is going [5:40] to be your focus as governor of nevada easy for lower costs um and i've already rolled out a plan [5:47] called the affordable nevada plan i commend to your readers my way to your viewers my website [5:51] forward for nevada.com under the issues prong are our different planks we're gonna we're gonna limit [5:57] how many homes corporations can buy up in the housing context because they're pricing us out of [6:01] our neighborhoods we're going to limit the cost of certain prescription drugs so the men can [6:04] negotiate a price for everybody to help people be able to afford medicines we're going to feed our [6:10] children which is something that by the way all three of these things that i've just mentioned [6:14] our governor vetoed um we could we could be experiencing relief from them right now but [6:18] he's vetoed those including feeding our kids and when we feed our kids we put a thousand dollars back [6:23] in the pockets of parents per student per year so they can spend that money unfortunately on this [6:27] expensive gas that we're not having to have to pay for so these are ways we're going to touch on the [6:32] affordability crisis and we're going to begin that on day one what is the biggest lie that joe lombardo [6:38] has told about you that you'd like to correct oh my there's so many and and you know the biggest i [6:44] guess is in the eye of the beholder um uh in in my in my estimation is that he's lying about taxes [6:51] um you know he has a commercial out saying that i raised taxes 15 times or sought to raise taxes 15 [6:56] times when i was in the legislature it's been fact checked by a news station up north and at the end [7:02] of the day um and at the end of the day um they were able to demonstrate that it's not true but it's that [7:08] type of lie that he puts out um because again he can't um defend his own record which has caused this [7:15] this this this decimation of our economy and on the flip side that exact point what is the biggest [7:20] lie he's told about his own record that you want to set the record straight on i think he he tries [7:26] to tout that we have a good economy like what economy are you living in are you talking to the [7:31] people i'm talking to on the ground who can't find jobs uh because he has overseen if not the [7:36] highest one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation and by the way he ran on unemployment [7:40] he blamed our last governor for the high unemployment rate now he wants to say he can't do anything about [7:45] unemployment or the affordability crisis in fact he has a theory sir that if you are unemployed right [7:50] now it's because you're lazy this is his own words about people that he's supposedly uh trying to [7:56] trying to represent that they're lazy um and so these are the types of lies that he's he's playing [8:01] in our faces as people say these days right where you you you you you articulate something that is [8:06] just not true that's not the experience of people having on the ground what's a little bit of your [8:11] experience uh as attorney general that you'd like to promote that could inform a little bit of how [8:18] about how you would uh govern as governor of the state of nevada um the attorney general's job is to [8:25] protect nevadans in the criminal context in the social ill context and i've demonstrated my ability to [8:31] stand up against anybody whether it's the biden administration that i had to sue the trump [8:35] administration that i've had to sue albeit several more times than i had to sue biden whether it's big [8:40] companies and corporations where i've gotten 1.2 billion dollars back in opioid recoveries or getting [8:45] settlements with um social media entities that have been negatively harming the mental health of our [8:50] children i've been able to stand up i'm unafraid uh to do what's necessary to protect nevadans and i'm [8:56] going to take that same fearlessness to the governor's office and stand up to a federal [9:00] administration that is hell-bent on depriving us of an opportunity to thrive in our society [9:05] what does the polling look like in your race right now look essentially it's a top ball game um you [9:10] know a poll had me up two points i've been down a point but it's essentially a top ball game all of [9:15] these polls show us in the margin of error so you know we have to continue to work hard to run through [9:21] the tape i coached all my kids in their sports including in track and i used to tell kids don't [9:25] stop when you get close to the finish line you got to run through the tape all the way through the [9:28] tape and that's what we're doing right now this was always going to be a race between the money [9:33] and the mini joe lombardo has the money as i've said he spent 20 million dollars lying but we have [9:38] the many on our team who are going to see us through this finish line and finally for folks who are [9:43] looking to help your campaign where can they go please visit my website ford ford nevada.com as much [9:49] as this is about the money versus the many and us having the many we could still use your support [9:53] financially so that we can stay on tv so that we can be stay on the radio so that we can stay on [9:58] social media getting our message out showing what the contrast is and letting folks know they have [10:02] a choice to make in our state they can choose a folder and joel lombardo or a fighter and aaron [10:08] ford they can choose the doormat for donald trump or the individual who will do anything to protect [10:13] you excellent i'm going to put that link right here on the screen and also in the post description [10:17] for those who are listening on the podcast i'm going to throw it in the show notes ag ford thank you [10:21] so much for taking the time best luck in the campaign trail for governor appreciate you thanks so much
