remarks and pledge of allegiance will be provided by council member andrea thank you president anderson good evening everyone i would like to start by congratulating council member denise horland and eric anderson on their unopposed re-election we are we have an excellent council we don't always agree we don't always vote the same but we are always professional caring and accessible to the community and i am honored to continue working with both of you uh and i want to transition into uh one of our guests that we have this evening who's going to lead us into the pledge of allegiance so i'm honored to introduce you to sebastian cordova and he is the latest recipient of the next gen plantation scholarship that i created six years ago in which i award high school seniors with a one thousand dollar scholarship and those are the high schools that are represented here in the city of plantation so south plantation plantation high um heritage or any other student who's attending a school and lives in plantation but they might be like sebastian at another location for whatever various reasons that they wanted to pursue so uh sebastian is one as i stated of our recipients we've given over fifteen thousand dollars away to some of our best and brightest young people in the city of plantation and as a lifelong educator i am uh really adamantly opposed to the state board of education banning undocumented students from enrolling in our state universities and colleges and our young people are the reason why we see such great potential and we all know that education is the great equalizer in our country and of course our state and community so i am hoping that they uh when they do meet they will somehow amend these admission rules and realize that our students all need to be provided with a quality education and so i hope you will also support me in that thought process and in those efforts but i am honored today again to welcome sebastian cordova who will lead us in the pledge of allegiance sebastian i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all don't go anywhere sebastian so if you can tell everyone uh what are your plans after graduation you recently graduated a few weeks ago yes um i graduated from college academy uh which is sort of a dual enrollment program at broward college um and i plan to attend the university of florida to uh pursue my bachelor's for uh in computer engineering um that's my there to sort of get the best education can okay i want to study to get the best education in the state that i can um i especially want to focus on computers because i think that they've been integrated in so many products that we use today um and in so many services as well and i think making them accessible um to people in any city is really uh important um and they can also help in times of crisis um one part that really stuck out to me um that i can remember was during the coven 19 pandemic a lot of people didn't have access to technology or internet or computers or a lot of things like that um but still you know companies were still offering you know temporary uh internet services and renting out laptops so that families could use it and especially here in plantation i remember you know friends and family that were able to take advantage of that so i do want to study how to make computers more accessible uh for people in the city of plantation and uh that is what i hope to pursue and learn at the university of florida thank you so much we're so proud of you and we look forward to you coming back to plantation and sowing into our community so best of luck to you and uh your future endeavors we know you'll be very successful and thank you for joining us tonight thank you very much i just want to note that sebastian was a former tropical student and his father served on the affordable housing want to say anything i bet you do okay i just want to say it's great working for the city of plantation and working for the utilities and i love all the guys that i work with great working environment and we have a special one joanne whatley come up and we'll talk about it thank you good how are you all right not only is joanne getting her 20-year pin she is retiring so i get to read your proclamation here whereas joanne was born in paynesville ohio and moved to florida in 1992 and whereas joanne began working for the city plantation at the building safety department in april 2006 after hurricane wilma joanne proudly served in the u.s army for four years and whereas joanne has one son named christopher and a daughter-in-law named martha joanne has a twin sister diane who recently retired from the town of davie after 28 years joanne has three grandchildren a grandson named colton and two granddaughters named ariel and maddie and whereas after 20 years of service joanne announced her retirement effective june 30th joanne is very proud to have worked for 20 years with the city and to have witnessed its growth now therefore i next sort of mayor city council plantation to hereby express our gratitude and appreciation to joanne whatley we get a plaque a key to the city beautiful and a pin and a pin thank you so much want all your friends to come up if you worked in the building apartment come up and take a picture with joanne oh my goodness your favorite color i think i got everything i think i got it you got it okay thank you mayor very much oh you are welcome like if family members leaving i know so good things oh and the reason all these people are up against the wall is rudy gabor 25 years fire anything from you because first of all thank you uh to my yeah all righty almost all right good evening council mayor uh mr ezra we've got several events coming up in the parks and rec department starting with our july 4th independence day celebration that is saturday july 4th our parade kicks off at 9 a.m at broward boulevard and northwest 46th avenue and ends at city hall we're also having a pool party at the aquatic complex from 10 a.m to 2 p.m free entry for all plantation residents and our evening event the concert fireworks and kid zone which will begin at six o'clock the kid zone and live performance by the btb band valerie tyson band beginning at 7 p.m followed by spectaculars and belly fireworks at 9 p.m please remember no personal fireworks sparklers drones tents or pets are allowed um friday july 10th we have our boots and bling daddy daughter dance at volunteer park from 7 to 9 30 p.m tickets go on sale friday june 6th at 8 a.m saturday july 18th save the date for our back to school barbecue at jim ward community center from 11 a.m to 1 p.m in our aquatics division we've got our session five swim lessons registration going on from june 28th to july 5th in our tennis division sunday july 5th through sunday july 12th the level one girls 14 national tournament at the veltri tennis center at our equestrian center saturday june 27th we have a jump the moon horse show uh that event begins at 3 p.m and athletics next on deck is tiffany hudson mr corman how are you this evening well thank you uh rob corman one one zero nine five white hawk street uh well it's that time again uh first off i'd like to congratulate council member anderson as well as council member and current president hordland for winning their seats without a challenge an uncontested race is often seen as approval by the electorate of the incumbent and the job they've been doing it also by extension implies that the office holder can become more bold in their positions we have though seen some political office holders abuse that trust because election season is upon us the inevitable and repetitive conversations are about to push into high gear i myself have stood before you and asked during past elections to comport yourselves in such a way as to avoid the appearance of favoritism or bias on the dais this is what i would like to address tonight my request at the end of my comments will reflect my concerns again as i have said in the past i expect you as my representatives to behave in an ethical and fair manner as private citizens you are free to comment and support any candidate you wish when you are on the dais and by extension using your official title of council member council president or mayor i would expect you to maintain neutrality in all things political municipal elections are non-partisan for a reason the agendas and elements of state and national party should have no place in the local realm we see examples of such interference from tallahassee and rules like preemption which minimize the ability of plantation residents to control their own fate i've sat here and heard you talk about how effective and congenial this council is how well you work together good that's what i want apparently the people of plantation agree with you so much there were no challenges for two of you this year my concern is for the other seat the residents of plantation will choose who they would like to occupy that seat you will get to vote as citizens for the person with whom you would like to serve however in your official capacities you should remain neutral your title should not be used in any conversation about candidates there is a reason sunshine laws exist maybe you should start thinking about that here when an office holder or parties choose your representatives the citizen loses that's not democracy that's an effort to concentrate power that is sorority politics not good government council president anderson mayor sortle council member ryanstein and council member andreio all appear in the endorsed by section on the webpage of a candidate for city council their titles are on that page they cannot sit there and tell me that they couldn't have just told that candidate to remove their titles they cannot tell me that they couldn't have just said i support you but i will not do so publicly with my title because it looks wrong by allowing their names and titles to appear on that webpage they made it clear that bias in both directions is a potential outcome of the election for this seat it implies that they will not be as open to working with a different candidate should that person win why would they choose that course of action what is to be gained i'm tired of being let down by my representatives i'm tired of asking for those who sit on the dais to exercise exercise sound ethical judgment i'm tired of seeing overt political bias from the council my request to you council council president anderson is to use some of the political capital you gained by not having a challenger put a resolution out that states that those who occupy an office of honor within the city from mayor to council member to those who serve on advisory boards to refrain from openly endorsing any candidate for office within the city and if that official title is used that the individual who does so should be officially censored for doing that thank you thank you and do we have is tiffany yes there she is tiffany hudson come on up hi tiffany hudson 89 51 north new river canal road um i spent months digging into red speed that's what i want to talk to you about uh the company the city contracted with pulling public records reading other cities meeting minutes and following the money and i'm here to talk about how they're screwing us and how this council made the wrong decision with all due respect uh you are public servants not here to make decisions for us but here to make the decisions that people would actually want on our behalf and the public did not know about this i know because i am the public and i've talked to many residents who had no idea these cameras were going in so i have a question did we remove the police from our school zones to free them up like was originally discussed if we did how are our children safer with no officer there if someone speeds through or if a child gets struck and if the police are still there then what was the point our children are the most important thing if i get to choose where an officer stands i choose the school zone where the most vulnerable people are and here's another question one council member said that they saw data that convinced them to go with red speed where is that data was it offered by red speed because i've been looking through the records and i don't see it correct me if i'm wrong and i hope i'm not but show me what children have been struck killed or hurt in a plantation school zone in the last five to ten years why is this suddenly an issue maybe speeding is a problem but we take all this money away from the people when no proof that there's a single accident in a school zone because let's be honest about what this really is by putting in this system you're taking money out of the pockets of everyday hard-working families in a time of inflation when everything is more expensive and everything is uncertain you put a revenue revenue stream on the backs of your own citizens that is a money grab 100 and it's common sense why would a city that cares about safety partner with a company whose entire business model only makes money when people break the law they keep a cut of every fine they profit when drivers speed if everyone obeyed the law there'd be no money for them or for the city that's a conflict of interest and how did florida come to pass this bill well obviously with the help of red speed who generously donated thousands of dollars to the sponsors of the bill and one day before your march 25th vote gave a thousand dollars to the mayor that's public record in my opinion from everything i've seen red speed is a slimy company that does bad business and cannot be trusted and the fact that you did not do your due diligence that you made a decision on the city's behalf that i believe hurts us and every family implantation is deeply disappointing samuel adams said the liberties of our country are worth defending at all hazards and that is our duty to keep a watchful eye on those we trust with power and that's what i'm doing tonight thank you thank you do we have any other comments from the public and with that the public request of council regarding municipal affairs are now closed and we can move on to the consent agenda which consists on the council meeting which consists of items 1 through 18 and may be approved with one motion does any member of the council wish to pull an item can i pull 8 and 15 please 8 and 15 i'm going to pull six just for a quick question anything else okay so can i get it go to sleep um just the description i i felt the description i had to really dig and i honestly the contract was like 368 pages and i just felt like i shouldn't have to dig that hard it it stated that it was for they were adding on additional i i don't again my computer is asleep and i don't want to have to go through the whole multi-factor authentication while i'm running the meeting um can can you pull up that item please actually it might be right on the summary part it just talked about the um oh no that's not the one oh i'm getting mixed up with two to two a different one okay so then i will ask a question on this one the the the restroom and the trailer for because we're going to be working on uh a place and the staff members need to need to be able to use it what will we do with the trailer when it's when we're done when the building is done could we use it potentially for events where we have a large number of people at can we trailer it to something like that or will we sell it for surplus uh good afternoon danny polio utilities director uh yes potentially to all of the above it leaves our options open we had looked at this and when we originally looked at these uh the cost estimates that were received from our consultants the architects the the costs were astronomical leasing costs were going to exceed two hundred thousand dollars so the approach that we're using gives us the benefit and it gives us the flexibility to do whatever we choose to after we have a lot of projects that are coming up this particular the the the restroom shower locker room trailer uh that you're speaking about item number six that is more geared towards uh replacing or servicing a larger shower facilities it's ada it's not really like a more of a public where you where you go to a uh an event and it's all restroom facilities it's more geared towards uh the showers and and that it's male and female the other uh the second trailer the other item that you're not questioning that also gives us more flexibility to use in other buildings that we're we we plan on renovating so over time we might need it longer and if eventually we don't need it we could sell it for surplus exactly okay that's it just quick thank you yep thank you and and uh by the way it's more of charles so that you you did the you called around because the the quotes are coming in so high for rental and so forth yeah what's what happened trust business procurement director so the place that we solicit our our bids demand star um those vendors don't really reside on there this is such a niche market um so yeah we did a lot of google searching a lot of calling of other cities a lot of contractor calling and seeing if we could find vendors and as you can tell there's still not a lot of them out the other two listed though did not put a bid in yes that's correct did you call them for a did you call them we call yes and they still wouldn't give you a quote no we found that a lot of these companies don't typically one selling them is not really a big option too they don't deal with cities so much because we just have the way we do business obviously so most times they end up selling to contractors that's the findings that we've had seen even in fire station number one and other projects that we've done in the past okay but at least you guys we did some diligence better with our attorneys and unfortunately we need to think about that a little bit more because what we've been advised is we need to be careful about how much we inspect how long we take to cure because once we have that identification we're putting ourselves on notice basically which in a perfect world what we would like to do survey the entire city give all of you a sense of this is the infrastructure need as it relates to sidewalks this is the prioritization so that you can in turn tell residents this is where we're going and we can in turn ask for you from you these are the funds we need to mitigate these that doesn't appear that that would be in our best interest but that said um i'm hoping by the next meeting we can at least give you our next tranche put that out there but as long as we're comfortable that we are going to be able to attack it within an acceptable time frame to minimize our liability okay i apologize for the lack of responsiveness in that response i can codification severability a saving clause conflicts and an effective date okay discussion from go ahead councilman rendra thank you president anderson so mr spencer i really do not want to beat this dead horse we spent a lot of time on this but going to line 1230 the protest fee i thought we had discussed just um having kind of that minimum of 1500 and a max of 15 000 i was confused to still see the five percent still in there so how will that work if you have both the percentage and the dollar amount so the 1500 covers if the solicitation does not have a pricing component the five percent happens when the solicitation has a pricing component and then the fifteen thousand dollar max is what we've you all discussed on during the workshop okay okay so if no dollar amount is included it'll be assessed the 1500 but if it does have a dollar amount it would be five percent of that would be the five percent with a max cap of 15 yes ma'am got it yes ma'am any anything else with with that any entitled stormwater management utility fee to provide that equivalent residential units and eru rates shall be established by resolution amending section 9-104 entitled annual modifications and study prepared by dta public finance inc dated may 6 2026 providing legislative findings creating an impact fee schedule and land use categories establishing criteria and administrative procedures for individual assessment of impact fees refunds credits collection of fees and fair share agreements providing for a four-year phase-in schedule pursuant to section 163.31801 florida statutes providing because there was some chicanery regarding uh what meals were being funded and by whom it was it made the paper but um so anyway it's great that that organization is in plantation it's it's in the industrial area that's a good place to put food in put food out get it and go and share it with people um you know in these times the idea of feeding people especially you know seniors have that feeling of isolation so the idea of somebody visiting them every week or every two weeks is pretty meaningful so that was a success uh number two i don't know how many of us know marco loughlin he was a personality he passed away today so uh condolences that's it yeah yeah it was fast councilmember anderson i believe there might be a board appointment that was going to be made so are there any giselle hippolito and she is a civil engineer is a certified general contractor certified flood plane manager and licensed plan examiner and inspector in another city but lives here in plantation thank you very much okay i don't think so i don't i don't remember anymore do we vote on these or not we're working on an updated ordinance that's going to clarify how we do this uh but the answer is no for none none of the boards no there are there are some boards that are resolutions required yes clarify all that later yes and just also um this was somebody whose application and resume was also previously sent to the entire council great thank you great sounds like a great appointment uh um any other advisory board appointments okay so then count comments by council members i'll start to my left thank you president anderson so i actually have a lot of comments so bear with me for a minute um i would like to know um from either i don't know mrs morris or mr nunamaker the status of the fertilizer ordinance i know that dr long she was here earlier i believe she left and the sustainability advisory board have been working on that and i want to know when the council can expect to review that at a upcoming meeting the water keepers alliance and fort lauderdale kind of already did the heavy lifting uh including their findings purpose and intent and i'm not sure if attorney ezra has been able to review a draft of that yet no not yet actually carol morris assistant city administrator sustainability board liaison um actually the language for the ordinance is actually in state statute but we are just working at making sure that we are in full compliance before we bring it to you for adoption so i would hope that we will have it for the july meeting but i'm going to hedge my bet and say august okay so sometime either july or august okay and when you say full compliance miss morris i'm sorry but we had our workshop at the as was stated at the five o'clock hour and we talked about a company and i actually did jot their name down because i wanted to familiarize myself with the name of the company the vendor we're using but um are they in compliance with what we're putting in that ordinance i'm going to have to reach out to them as well we have been focusing on our primary city departments that apply fertilizers i think it was tigris right okay check it out okay thank you for that um do you want oh do you want to you want to comment uh engineer city engineer shaylon good evening just to answer your question yes all the chemicals and all the herb herb type her fertilizers are apa approved and now we receive monthly report on all the applications and we review them and make sure they are in compliance with the state requirement excellent thank you for that additional information um moving along so we talked a little bit already this evening and i don't want to belabor the subject about the speed cameras but there is some confusion on if they are on or off for the summer so i thought that we had a previous discussion i know chief is out i believe he's attending professional development um do we know if they are active we we have summer school that has started in some of our locations so are the cameras up at those locations or are they off for the summer deputy chief council good evening um could you state your yes i will do that apologies for that uh similar council deputy chief city plantation police department um it is my understanding that they are active during the summer at the schools in particular that are operational otherwise they are not okay thank you for that clarification do you mean operation with students because their operation with staff you i assume you mean active summer school yes active summer schools okay correct so south plantation for example correct so just so anybody who is listening is aware that they are active while we have students in session at those locations and south plantation is one of them correct thank you chief deputy chief i'm promoting you um also uh just sorry um i was recently in pompano which i rarely go north and i passed their beautiful cultural arts center and i was actually very jealous and wondered why we don't have a facility similar to that implantation so have we provided a formal unsolicited proposal to the school board to purchase the property at the corner of broward and hiatus i feel like we are missing out on a huge opportunity to establish a public private partnership and collaborate with several entities like island space museum and others to build a really state-of-the-art theater here in our very backyard uh no we have not um and frankly on that i i think we need some direction from y'all on that um i did do a little bit more research just generally to see how folks deal with those on a revenue basis and i look to lauder hill and even they note in their budget a subsidy for their center now it's it's reducing over time but they still are subsidizing with the general fund um at this point i i would be very cautious about going on new endeavors but um if y'all have a collective consensus on that it's certainly something we can discuss well i guess i will bring it up again when we're in person so that uh council member horland i know she's in the airport can also opine but it's definitely something even with the current um unknowns that we might be facing it is something that i personally am still advocating for and would like to see um i think the return on investment over time is huge and the community a lot many several members that i've spoken with in the community feel like it's the one missing piece of the puzzle that we do not have here in plantation but if any of my colleagues would like to chime in now i'd love to hear your thoughts residing president anderson may i chime in from the airport go ahead councilman horland okay i'm not sure how good the air audio is uh good to see everybody um i agree this is something that we have talked about and we want to see in the city but i i do i do agree with mr menemaker um in regards to being cautious at this point about um purchasing that property for that i know that for that purpose i know that mr menemaker had sent us some information some correspondence with broward county about the heritage park um parcel across the street from heritage park and that they were um in conversation i think with community uh foundation of broward and others about perhaps putting some type of arts facility there so i'd like to continue to explore that um i do think it's a need for our community to council member andrea's uh point but i think with the property tax uh situation looming we do have to proceed with caution right now i would i completely understand your um argument as well i would say that even if we did not develop it it's something that we should add to um you know our inventory if you will so that we can have our own uh destiny i guess um i hate to see some developer pick up that piece of property and then um with everything that we all of the legislation out of tallahassee you know our hands are tied in many ways so but whatever the will is of the the group i would like us to still make that investment even if we don't develop it but just to have ownership um all right well i have um councilmember fat okay just yeah i was caught on the off light for a second councilman fadgen go ahead um i've said this at strategic planning i think that um i don't think that's i don't think that would be an appropriate part a place for another community center i believe the as councilmember horland said um the heritage park off pine island and fig tree the possibility of partnering with the county and then the um community foundation with no land acquisition costs makes a lot of sense and as i said before there are no community centers south of broward boulevard and i think that just makes a lot of sense not saying that we should do it i'm just saying i think we should explore with the county to show that we have an interest in doing that um but i think that uh i don't think we need another community center on broward and hiatus uh you know we have the volunteer park we just invested a lot of money in the north acres park so i just think it makes more sense to put some investments south of broward boulevard okay thank you councilman reinstein yeah thank you um thank you for those comments from my colleagues um i i actually agree with with with both the the comments in terms of the the location um and further exploring the heritage park location but i do think that making the the inquiry the overture or at least making sure that the school board is aware that we would like to that we have an interest in that in that spot we have an interest in that location so that they will keep us updated um you know at this point um i'd prefer it remain open grassland i'd prefer it be some type of passive park or use for flood mitigation use it for put a retention pond i think there are lots of other uses for that that property instead of a cultural center but either way it is we have we have very little open land left in our city and um if uh if the school board has some some thoughts um making sure that that line of communication is is open with them is uh is a good thing thank you councilman horland do you want to speak you turned your camera back on no just want to let you know i was here okay making us dizzy um well i feel like i'm blind to the cost i i i feel very leery with um all the the state the tax situation and without knowing how much it costs and how much i don't know what the city of sunrise and city of miramar have to put into their cultural centers um i would need a lot more information before i could opine but i like the ideas of at least letting them know that's a big start and um both broward county for the heritage park site and the um hiatus we've done that we did that a year and a half ago that's what i thought we sent a letter of interest saying we want right at first refusal for the property if you all are thinking about selling it please let us know yeah i and and we talked to them a lot and the same thing with the other so i would maybe um broward parks i would potentially uh reach back out in about a month or so the current director of that of the real estate planning acquisition department i'm pretty sure his last day is tuesday the 30th he's retiring so he'll give us a deal before he jumps ship all right no whoever his next counterpart is that letter you sent doesn't get lost or i'm just saying you know oh good call okay if it's been a long time and it's a new person i would refresh their memory that's what i'm saying and there's often a sense they don't really listen to us and so repeating ourselves more than once may be helpful all right um just more comments please just a few uh the non-profit group uh shacks hope foundation they will be celebrating their 10-year anniversary honoring sickle cell warriors this saturday june 27th at 6 p.m at volunteer park so if anyone else can attend i plan on attending that i know that we're having a crime watch meeting deputy chief on wednesday july 1st at 6 30 at the broward mall at the police outreach center there um and i did have some concerns about broward mall that i relayed to mr nunamaker that i'm sure he will share with you if he hasn't done so already um and i just want to give a huge shout out i know that our parks and rec team already did it online but to alex freeman who grew up here in plantation and his parents still are here in the city who scored a goal last week for team usa in the world cup he's number 16 and i hear that you know several teams are staying right here at our hotel in plantation and eating at our restaurants and you know increasing and driving uh our economy which is great so we are on the national stage with this world cup and it's just a great reminder of who we are and how birthright citizenship has allowed these rosters to be very diverse and show our exceptionally gifted players such as alex so i hope when he returns home we can honor him with a proclamation and uh really make it a big deal maybe next year he'll be our um our parade lead grand marshal grand marshal for fourth of july next year that i've already talked to the mom oh i love it mayor thank you that's great i look forward to that was my segue to the fourth of july parade i look forward to our fourth of july parade uh saturday and you know we're not convening another city council meeting until july 29th that's why i had a lot on my plate tonight because uh we don't have another meeting for quite a few weeks we'll we will be on a little hiatus and i believe that one is at 5 p.m and we'll be discussing our maximum millage rate at that meeting so we hope everybody will tune in and my last comment happy belated birthday to our wonderful city clerk miss april beggarow we appreciate all that you do and thank you wait don't i know i don't say it enough so thank you thank you president anderson um councilmember reinstein go ahead so i'll i'll continue from where um councilmember andrea left off is a happy fourth of july to everybody i hope that everybody who is able to attends our fourth of july parade and all of the activities at central park i think it's um one of the very special and historical um activities that have uh that take place in our city that is is really loved by all so happy fourth happy 250th um there's also on july 18th there is a back to school barbecue at jim ward and our city provides free school supplies for plantation students you must show a plantation a valid plantation id and there's giveaways and games and the the city does a great job parks and rec does a great job and police department fire department everybody's always out there i also wanted to make mention that this past weekend island space museum held its mango festival and for those of you who attended the mango festival in the past the past couple years they've had to move out of plantation to hold their mango festival and um generally for island space they're finding that their big programs are very well attended but they need they need a bigger bigger location for it so you know i'm going to encourage i've encouraged them and encourage the city as well as any of our businesses that maybe they haven't thought of to communicate so that we can do everything possible to keep island space museum here in the city not just as the museum but in terms of all their their great activities and whether it's in our city or anywhere else i urge everybody to attend those programs because island space is a very special part of our city and we want to make sure we can support them and keep them here so thank you councilmore fadgen thank you uh council president anderson i thought you were going to set a speed record but we uh we ground to a stop sorry going as fast we can just wanted to reiterate or restate what uh councilmember andrea said earlier congratulations councilmember anderson councilmember horland on your re-election you have a pleasant summer ahead of you so congratulations um just looking forward to the fourth of july parade and the uh in the concert and the fireworks we do a fantastic job on those events so if you've never been go out it's well attended and you can get a lot of candy on if you uh line the parade route and then uh we don't see each other for at least five weeks so i'm looking forward to the break so have a good night you have something deputy chief mayor do you have any other comments okay did you no no no did you research the question more in depth yes and i'm a researcher at heart so again seymour council deputy chief plantation police department i just want to make sure i'm accurate so um it was posted on instagram on june 8th i was on annual leave at the time that the cameras are turned off for the summer um they did emphasize though that uh south plantation and tropical elementary are in session so to just come you know let the community know please continue to obey the speed uh laws in that area but the cameras according to our posting is turned off i just want to make sure i amended that okay thank you so that means the yellow flashing lights was to be on during the school they should be still on yes sir but the speed cameras are correct correct i just want to make sure i corrected that so thank you but deputy chief that was my problem i think it was posted yes but then i you know you have to take everything you see sometimes on social media with a grain of salt but somebody did post that they received a ticket okay so that's why i wanted to ask for clarification and technically and i'll just say in other cities yes they are on during the summer session when there are students there yes so can we just triple check that maybe tomorrow i will and see when the students are actually there if it is on i will i did check with our captain brown who's overseeing our process and he said that they are off um but i will still clarify uh give you an answer and then whatever the final answer the accurate answer is can we get it on your social actually back out on the pd social yes absolutely i'll make sure and talk to officer door for that thank you thank you for allowing me to come back and then my comments are same thing the happy fourth of july everybody uh it's going to be a longer summer we won't see it for a while and uh uh councilman horland thank you for covering for me for remarks i was very sick i was trying to make it in but i thought i would definitely get all of you sick so thank you for covering with the comments and um i just wanted to say backwards a little uh last weekend my father i had one of the best father's day my mom and dad my as you know i announced that i became my grandfather five weeks ago and my mom and dad hadn't gone up to melbourne to meet the grandson so it was just really nice to have my dad and me and my son and my grandson the four generation and my mom too but it was just really neat to um for father's day to to be up there for everything and then my brother's up there too and so we had a nice oh yes and then councilman horland do you have any comments yes thank you again council president pro tem for stepping in tonight um i have never in eight years missed a meeting uh so i got in under the wire tonight um i am coming back from dc i've landed what happened was um i was actually in uh congressman moskowitz office we're having a meeting with him today when i got word that the airspace around dc was going to be closing i had been planned on attending the council meeting uh via zoom from the airport and i had to suddenly change my flight again so um again thank you for stepping in i'm sorry that i couldn't be there i just wanted to add a couple of things had some great meetings i was in contact with uh miss morris not only did we meet with the congressional delegation uh our senators moody and scott we had some great conversations but most importantly we were able to meet with some of the um deputies and agency heads so we did have a conversation with the assistant deputy director i did about our midtown bridge uh grant today and some possible uh some other possible funding opportunities so i'll be sharing that with miss morris and mr mannemaker and bring that back to council on the 29th but this was one of my last uh while i was representing the city of plantation i did travel with the leaf cities um they covered the cost with that and it was a very productive trip and i do want to say um talking about fourth of july coming it was wonderful to be in dc and see the 250th um uh birth of our nation uh decorations all around the city and i just come back with a renewed sense of patriotism as we greet fourth of july uh council member andrea thanks for bringing up alex freeman who grew up playing fokker on our pal field so i'm glad uh that the mayor has already reached out to his mom i think that proclamation will um would be a wonderful thing to acknowledge his contributions and i just wanted to end with as we mentioned fifa it has been quite a um opportunity for our city economically but i really want to give a shout out to our police department i sat down with chief schlegel last week and talking about just the uh strategy and the um the planning and everything that's gone into it the men and women of our police department have really stepped up to keep the team the fans and our city safe and i want to thank them for that and to dc council who took my call from dc today uh because there was a business that was having an issue um he got back to me right away and was able to resolve it and i just want to offer my gratitude to him and i look forward to seeing everybody to seeing
